Board of Directors

Dorian Noble

Dorian, Project Coordinator at Sarnia Lambton Economic Partnership, brings a wealth of experience in multiple sectors, including commercial real estate, property management, and community engagement. With a bachelor’s degree in international business & Trade from Florida Atlantic University, Dorian is an excellent communicator who can deliver insightful presentations and build strong relationships with business partners and community leaders. Dorian is also an active member of the Sarnia-Lambton Immigration Taskforce and sits on both the Community Immigration Network and the Employment / Economic Immigration Committees. As a member of the Women's Interval Home Board of Directors, Dorian is committed to supporting the organization's Vision, Mission, and Values and making a positive impact on the lives of women and children in our community.

Jessica Bonnema

Board Member

Jessica is a family law lawyer practicing in both the Sarnia and London areas. She has seen firsthand the violence women and children face in family disputes and is a fierce advocate for vulnerable individuals. Born and raised in Sarnia, Jessica takes pride in giving back to the community she has always called home. She is a long-time supporter of the Women’s Interval Home and looks forward to serving women and children in our community that require these necessary resources.

Martha Chipman

Board Member

Martha is a retired Financial Advisor with 34 years in the banking industry. She also was an elementary teacher. Born and raised in Sarnia she is an alumna from University of Western Ontario as well as Lambton College. Over the years she has volunteered on many committees, boards and fundraisers.  As a big believer of supporting the necessary and vital services that benefit and strengthen our community she is honored to serve on the board to help further the mandate and vision of The Women’s Interval Home.

Marina Plain

Board Member

Marina has a degree in social services from Lambton College. She is currently employed with Anishinabek Nation – Union of Ontario Indians, Health Department for 39 First Nations as a Jordan’s Principle Navigator. Marina has served as part of our Community Leadership at Aamjiwnaang First Nation Council for two terms. She has extensive experience as a member of Government boards, Women’s Council’s, Treaty Council, Federal Missing and Murder Indigenous Women’ advisory, City of Sarnia UNDRIP, Environment, BI-National Public Advisory, Education committees and various working groups. She looks forward to working alongside fellow Women’s Interval Home Board members as we strive toward our mandate.

Larry Lafranier

Vice Chair/ Interim Treasurer

Larry Lafranier graduated from St. Jerome's College at the University of Waterloo in 1974. He has extensive experience in manufacturing plant operations, logistics, and project management both in Canada and internationally. Larry served as the Director of Capital Procurement for Bluewater Health and as the Purchasing Supervisor for the Lambton Kent District School Board. He retired in March 2023 after serving as the Executive Director of St. Joseph's Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton, a role he was appointed to in 2014 after serving on the board of directors from 2011 to 2014. Larry Lafranier joined the Women's Interval Home in April 2023 and is excited to bring his extensive experience.

Amy Hughes

Secretary

Amy was born and raised in Lambton County and has made Sarnia home for the last 20 years.  She earned a Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University, and has spent her career in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.  Her career has focused on strategic planning, business development and leadership.  Amy is grateful for the opportunity to support the Women’s Interval Home's vision and have a positive impact on the lives of women and children in the community.

Emily Burden

Board Member

Emily is the Practice Manager of NG Chartered Professional Accountants with offices in London and St. Thomas. With an Honours degree from the University of Windsor, she brings her Management, Marketing, and HR experience to the Women’s Interval Home Board of Directors. Originally from Ottawa, Emily has called Sarnia-Lambton home for over 10 years. As a supporter of the Women’s Interval Home and their mission, Emily looks forward to contributing a positive impact to the Home and the valuable and essential services it provides the women and children of our community.

Sue Burgel

Board Member

Sue is the controller and co-owner of Express, with over 25 years of experience in management and accounting across retail, automotive, and manufacturing. She joined Express in August 2020 and became an owner by August 2022.

A longtime resident of Camlachie, Sue grew up in Tillsonburg and London, eventually moving to the Sarnia area in 1993. Deeply committed to her community, Sue actively serves on the SYC Finance Committee and the Chamber Governance Committee. Having survived two battles with breast cancer, Sue uses her personal journey to inspire resilience and strength in others. She looks forward to continuing her work in both business and community service, fostering growth and providing support where it's most needed.

Rachel Korosec

Board Member

Rachel Korosec is a marketing and events director in the cyber security industry. With over 10 years of marketing experience, Rachel specializes in creating and executing top tier events globally. After living in Toronto for 10 years, Rachel moved back to Lambton County and is excited to give back to the community she grew up in. 

Helen Cole

Board Member

Helen Cole is a passionate advocate for women in leadership. As the Founder of The Jean Collective, she empowers women to step into leadership roles primarily be providing inspiration through Women's Leadership Conferences across Elgin, Middlesex, and Lambton Counties. Helen's own leadership journey led her to serve as a municipal councillor in St. Thomas and hold key roles, including managing the local Canadian Cancer Society as well as serving on a variety of boards and committees in Sarnia Lambton. Inspired by her mentor, Jean McDougall, she founded The Jean Collective to help women step into political and community leadership.

Carrie Parker

Board Member

Carrie was born and raised in Lambton County. She graduated 17 years ago as a registered nurse and currently holds a Director position at Bluewater Health. She is a wife and mother of three. Carrie was new in her role when she joined the Woman’s Interval Home board, with the intent to share her leadership qualities to support innovative change, growth, and a positive mindset while giving back to our community.
